Why go to Bangkok
Bangkok is easy to enjoy on any budget. Spend a morning at the Grand Palace and Wat Pho, the temple of the reclining Buddha. Take a river boat on the Chao Phraya. In the evening, go to a night market or a rooftop bar.
It’s also a good start to a longer Thailand trip. Phuket, Krabi and Koh Samui are short, cheap flights away, and Pattaya is about two hours by road.
Best time to visit Bangkok
November to February is the best time: drier, and less hot, with days around 30°C. March to May is very hot. June to October is the rainy season, with short heavy showers most afternoons, but it’s still very doable and hotels are cheaper.

Bangkok visa for Indians
Visa-free, 30 daysLast checked October 2026
Indian passport holders can visit Thailand without a visa for up to 30 days (this changed from 60 days on 15 September 2026).
Before you fly, fill in the free Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) online, within 3 days before you arrive. Immigration can also ask for your return ticket and proof of where you are staying, so keep both on your phone.
Apply only on the official site, tdac.immigration.go.th, or through a trusted agent. Look-alike sites charge extra. Rules change, so check again before you book.
Flight time and fares from Delhi
Many nonstop flights leave Delhi for Bangkok every day, and the flight takes about 4 hours. Check the airport before you book: most flights land at Suvarnabhumi (BKK), but some budget airlines use Don Mueang (DMK) in the north of the city.
Night flights from Delhi land early in the morning, which gives you a full first day. Fares rise around Diwali, Christmas, New Year and Songkran (the Thai new year in mid-April).
Getting from the airport
From Suvarnabhumi, the Airport Rail Link reaches Phaya Thai station in about 30 minutes, where you can change to the BTS Skytrain. From Don Mueang, take the SRT Red Line train or a taxi. Taxis from both airports use the meter, plus expressway tolls and a small airport fee.
How many days you need
Three or four days covers Bangkok. With a beach on the same trip, plan a week: three nights in Bangkok and four in Phuket or Krabi.
Food for Indian travellers
Thai food often uses fish sauce and shrimp paste, so vegetarians should ask for “jay” food (Thai vegan cooking with no meat, fish or eggs). Look for the yellow flags of jay food stalls. Indian restaurants are easy to find around Sukhumvit and in Pahurat, Bangkok’s Little India.
