Why go to Kuala Lumpur
Most people come for the Petronas Twin Towers and Batu Caves, a Hindu temple inside a limestone hill. A giant golden statue of Lord Murugan stands at the foot of its 272 steps. Add big malls, street food and easy day trips, and you have a good short break.
KL is also a hub for budget airlines, which makes it a good stop on the way to Bali, Vietnam or Langkawi.
Best time to visit Kuala Lumpur
KL is warm all year, around 30°C, and rain usually comes as a short afternoon storm. June to August is often a little drier. October to December tends to be wetter, but it rarely spoils a trip.

Kuala Lumpur visa for Indians
Visa-free, 30 daysLast checked October 2026
Indian passport holders can visit Malaysia without a visa for up to 30 days. This visa-free entry is currently in place until 31 December 2026, so check again if you travel in 2027.
Fill in the free Malaysia Digital Arrival Card (MDAC) online within 3 days before you arrive.
Apply only on the official site, imigresen-online.imi.gov.my, or through a trusted agent. Look-alike sites charge extra. Rules change, so check again before you book.
Flight time and fares from Delhi
Nonstop flights from Delhi take about 5½ hours. Because so many low-cost airlines are based here, KL fares can drop sharply during airline sales. It’s also worth checking KL as a stopover: a cheap fare to KL plus a short flight on can cost less than flying straight to Bali or Phuket.
Getting from the airport
The KLIA Ekspres train reaches KL Sentral in about 30 minutes. Low-cost airlines use Terminal 2, so check your ticket and allow time if you’re changing terminals. Taxis and ride apps take about an hour to the centre.
How many days you need
Three days is enough for the city. For a week, add Langkawi or Penang for beaches and food, or take the bus or a short flight to Singapore.
Food for Indian travellers
KL is easy for Indian travellers. Brickfields, next to KL Sentral, is the city’s Little India, and banana-leaf meals are served all over town. Vegetarian food is easy to find.
