Why go to Ho Chi Minh City
Expect a sea of motorbikes, French-era buildings like the post office and the opera house, rooftop bars, markets and some of the best street food in Asia. The War Remnants Museum is hard to forget.
The city is also the base for two classic day trips: the Cu Chi Tunnels, used in the war, and the Mekong Delta, with its floating markets and canals.

Ho Chi Minh City visa for Indians
eVisaLast checked October 2026
Indian passport holders need a Vietnam e-visa, applied for online before you travel. It allows stays of up to 90 days, with single or multiple entry, and usually arrives within about three working days.
Many look-alike websites charge extra for the same e-visa. Use only the official government site.
Apply only on the official site, evisa.gov.vn, or through a trusted agent. Look-alike sites charge extra. Rules change, so check again before you book.
Flight time and fares from Delhi
Nonstop flights from Delhi take about 5 hours. Vietnam’s domestic flights are frequent and often cheap, so many people fly into Ho Chi Minh City and home from Hanoi or Da Nang, or the other way round.
Getting from the airport
Tan Son Nhat is inside the city, about 30 minutes from District 1 by taxi or ride app. Airport bus 109 also runs to the centre.
How many days you need
Three or four days: two in the city, one for the Cu Chi Tunnels and one for the Mekong Delta. With Hanoi or Da Nang, plan ten days for the whole country.
Food for Indian travellers
Look for “chay” (vegetarian) restaurants, which are easy to find. Vietnamese food often uses fish sauce, so ask for it to be left out. There are plenty of Indian restaurants in District 1.
