Why go to Bali

Bali has rice terraces and jungle around Ubud, temples on the cliffs at Uluwatu and on the sea at Tanah Lot, and beaches all along the south. Hindu culture is part of daily life here: every morning you’ll see small offerings of flowers and incense on doorsteps and shop counters.

It suits honeymoons and couples, but also groups of friends and longer trips. Many people add a day trip by boat to Nusa Penida, or a few days on the Gili islands.

Best time to visit Bali

April to October is the dry season and the best time to go. July and August, and the weeks around Christmas and New Year, are the busiest and most expensive. November to March is the wet season, with short heavy rain most days, fewer people and lower prices.

Bali visa for Indians

Visa on arrivalLast checked October 2026

Indian passport holders can get a 30-day visa on arrival (called e-VOA when you apply online). It costs IDR 500,000. Apply online before you fly to skip the queue at the airport. It can be extended once, for another 30 days.

Bali also charges every foreign visitor a tourist levy of IDR 150,000, which you can pay online before you travel or at the airport.

Apply only on the official site, evisa.imigrasi.go.id, or through a trusted agent. Look-alike sites charge extra. Rules change, so check again before you book.

Flight time and fares from Delhi

Nonstop flights from Delhi take about 7 hours. Many people also fly with one stop in Singapore, Kuala Lumpur or Bangkok, which can be cheaper and lets you add a night in a second city.

Fares rise for July and August and for Christmas and New Year. Two people travelling outside those weeks can often save a lot.

Getting from the airport

The airport is in the south, close to Kuta and Seminyak: 30 minutes to an hour by car, depending on traffic. Ubud is about 1½ to 2 hours away. Most people book a car through their hotel or use a ride app. Traffic in the south can be very slow in the evening.

How many days you need

Six to eight days is ideal: three or four in Ubud for the rice terraces and temples, and three or four by the sea in the south. With Nusa Penida or the Gili islands, plan ten days.

Food for Indian travellers

Bali is easy for vegetarians. Ubud has many vegetarian and vegan cafés, and Indian restaurants are common in Kuta, Seminyak and Ubud. Try nasi campur with tofu and tempeh, and ask for no shrimp paste.
