Why go to Paris
Beyond the Eiffel Tower and the Louvre, the best of Paris is free: walking along the Seine, climbing up to Sacré-Coeur in Montmartre, and sitting in the Luxembourg Gardens. Versailles is an easy half day by train, and Disneyland Paris is about 45 minutes away.
Many Indian travellers combine Paris with Switzerland and Italy on one trip, using fast trains between them.
Best time to visit Paris
April to June and September to October are the best months: mild, green and not too crowded. July and August are warm and busy. Winter is cold with short days, but the city is quieter and cheaper, and December has Christmas lights.

Paris visa for Indians
Schengen visaLast checked October 2026
Indian passport holders need a Schengen short-stay visa. If France is your main stop, apply on the official France-Visas website, then give your fingerprints and documents at the visa centre.
You can apply up to six months before you travel. Appointments fill up in spring and summer, so start early. One Schengen visa also covers Switzerland, Italy and most of Europe.
Apply only on the official site, france-visas.gouv.fr, or through a trusted agent. Look-alike sites charge extra. Rules change, so check again before you book.
Flight time and fares from Delhi
Nonstop flights from Delhi take about 9 to 10½ hours. Indian airlines currently fly a longer route around Pakistani airspace, so their flights take longer than Air France on the same route.
Paris often works out cheaper as a way into Europe than smaller cities. If your trip is mainly Switzerland or Italy, check fares to Paris too.
Getting from the airport
RER B trains run from Charles de Gaulle to central Paris in about 35 to 50 minutes. Official taxis charge a fixed fare from the airport to central Paris, so never agree to pay more.
How many days you need
Four or five days for Paris. For a week, add Versailles and a day at Disneyland Paris, or take the fast train to Switzerland.
Food for Indian travellers
Bakeries and cafés are easy for vegetarians: try a cheese crêpe or a vegetable quiche. Indian and Sri Lankan restaurants cluster around La Chapelle, near Gare du Nord.
