Why go to Tbilisi
Tbilisi’s old town has sulphur baths, wooden balconies and a cable car up to Narikala fortress. Drive the Georgian Military Road to Kazbegi, where Gergeti Trinity Church sits below a 5,000-metre peak. Kakheti, the wine region, is an easy day trip.
In winter, Gudauri, about 2½ hours from Tbilisi, is a popular ski resort and good value for a first ski trip.
Best time to visit Tbilisi
May to June and September to October are the best months for Tbilisi and the mountains. July and August are hot in the city but lovely in Kazbegi. From December to March, there’s skiing in Gudauri.

Tbilisi visa for Indians
eVisaLast checked October 2026
Indian passport holders can apply for a Georgian e-visa online before they travel.
If you hold a valid visa or residence permit from the US, the UK or a Schengen country, you can usually enter Georgia without a separate visa. Check the current list before you book.
Apply only on the official site, evisa.gov.ge, or through a trusted agent. Look-alike sites charge extra. Rules change, so check again before you book.
Flight time and fares from Delhi
There’s no nonstop flight from Delhi to Tbilisi right now (October 2026). Most people connect in the Gulf, Istanbul or Baku, and the whole journey usually takes 8 to 12 hours. Some travellers combine Georgia with Azerbaijan on one trip.
Nonstop flights have run on this route before. If they come back, we’ll tell our members.
Getting from the airport
The airport is about 25 minutes from the centre by taxi. Use a ride app such as Bolt for a fair price.
How many days you need
Five or six days: two in Tbilisi, one or two nights in Kazbegi, and a day in Kakheti. Add two days for Gudauri in winter.
Food for Indian travellers
Khachapuri (cheese bread), lobio (bean stew) and pkhali (vegetable and walnut pastes) are easy wins for vegetarians. Tbilisi also has a few Indian restaurants.
